Apartment Refurbishment • Calahonda, Mijas Costa

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] The owners of this apartment required a total refurbishment removing the dated brick arched walls in the living areas and updating everywhere. As the two bedroom, two bathroom apartment is quite small and North facing, an open plan living area was planned. The entrance door, which was never used, was blocked up and the spare bathroom was removed to allow for a bigger kitchen also creating lounge area. The clients wanted the kitchen totally open to the lounge. A ‘luxury hotel feel’ was the brief for the small bathroom with mood lighting for long soaks in the bath! After seeing another similar townhouse we did for their friends they decided they needed to update their holiday home. They wanted an open plan living area and additional bedrooms for visiting family. Small windows and doors were replaced for better light and also connectivity with the enclosed terrace, which we also refurbished. They wanted an open plan living area and additional bedrooms for visiting guests. Small windows and doors needed to be replaced for better light and also connectivity with the enclosed terrace. The most important area was the kitchen which had to be efficient and well equipped for entertaining the numerous visiting guests. [vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] Nothing was to be kept The Irish owners of this three level townhouse in El Rosario wanted a total refurbishment. Having owned it from new they decided it needed a complete makeover, nothing was to be kept. Preferring an open plan living area we proposed a couple of plan options which also better connected the outside rear terrace offering a more usable summer dining area. In addition, we needed to incorporate the large unused garage/store room into the house. It needed to be an area which the whole family could use but principally it was to be an entertainment area with a club-like lounge bar area. The lower level was a rabbit warren of small rooms, some built into the rocks with poor insulation and little natural light. We redesigned the whole floor plan on both levels, creating a more usable brighter space. The client left the decision on paint colours to us and was delighted with the finished result. As the owner decided to start renting the villa, converting the empty basement to provide two additional bedrooms and living space was decided on to maximise the potential income.
